Karate Summer School, Lancaster

The Karate Summer School at Lancaster University took place from 4th to 8th August.

The event proved to be a great success with a large increase in those attending compared with last year.

The students ranged in grades from 9th kyu to 6th dan and were split into several classes under the instruction of Senseis Andy Sherry, Terry O'Neill, Bob Poynton, Bob Rhodes, Billy Higgins and Frank Brennan.

There were many extra classes on the course including special classes for those taking dan gradings and also Bo classes taken by Ian MacLaren.

A Superstars Competition took place on the Thursday of the course between the dan and kyu grade. Games included basketball, brake sprints, sumo, tug of war and goal scoring with the kyu grades winning for only the second time in the 28 year history of the course.

The course finished with a dan grading and congratulations to the following who were successful:
