Many congratulations go to Firefighter David Burnham who achieved remarkable success at this year's World Firefighters Games, becoming champion in the all-styles Karate event.
The Games, held at the brand new ECHO arena in Liverpool, attracted over 5000 competitors from across the World in over 60 sports.
David, a member of the KUGB's Tamworth Dojo and a student of Rob and Lin Welsh, successfully fought his way through the eliminations before meeting a Russian competitor in the finals. In a very exciting match David beat his opponent 6-2 to take Gold and looks forward to defending his title at the next Games in South Korea in 2010. |
