SENSEI NISHIYAMA, 10th Dan
13/Nov/2008

KUGB Squad with Sensei Nishiyama in Budapest 1982

The KUGB is sad to learn of the death of Sensei Nishiyama and we send our condolences to his family, friends and students.

The KUGB enjoyed a long history of association with Sensei Nishiyama and our squads visited California to train with him and compete in various competitions many times during the 1960's, 70's and 80's.

He was one of the greats of Shotokan Karate and instrumental in the worldwide spread of the art, but particularly so in America.

He was a very friendly, amiable and helpful man and is fondly remembered by the KUGB's first and second generation of international competitors and will be greatly missed.
