Former Olympic champion, Lord Sebastian Coe recently visited Liverpool to inspect facilities for the 2012 Olympic Games. As part of the visit he attended the Merseyside Youth Games which was being held in Wavertree Park, Liverpool. Junior members of the KUGB, led by Instructors Andy Sherry and Frank Brennan, performed a demonstration for Lord Coe consisting of Kihon, Kata and Kumite. Lord Coe, a practicing Judoka, showed great interest, staying for the whole demonstration and spoke to the youngsters and Instructors at length, praising them for their standard and praising Karate as an ideal discipline for improving youngsters health and behaviour.
