Happy New Year! - 7th January 2004

End of Year Report

We hope that you all enjoyed a good Christmas break and would like to thank all of our members and friends for their support and loyalty over the last year.

2003 was overshadowed by the death of Sensei Enoeda but, despite this tragedy, the KUGB continued to provide its members with the facilities to enjoy and develop their pursuit of Shotokan excellence.

Many thousands of our members were successful in their kyu gradings, almost 300 achieved their black belts or higher dan grades and many of our dan grades achieved qualifications as Referees, Judges, Assessors or Instructors.

At international competitions, the KUGB enjoyed great success with an impressive tally of medals and awards - a summary of the year?s achievements is given on the website under the recently updated ESKA report.

Following the great success of the 2002 Annual Appeal to fund research into Motor Neurone Disease - which raised ?18,000 - the members at the AGM agreed to support research into children?s orthopedics for the 2003/4 Appeal and a cheque will be presented later this year.

Thank you again for your great support during 2003. We wish you all a happy, healthy and successful 2004 and look forward to seeing you at events throughout the year.
